WELCOME TO MATHER AVID!
Advancement Via Individual Determination - AVID is an internationally certified program. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. The AVID Elective class prepares students through WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, & reading), time management, tutorials, Socratic seminars, academic goal-setting & motivation. Students in the AVID Elective receive support with SAT prep, college applications, financial aid, service learning, and tutoring. Team building activities, college visits, and guest speakers round out the AVID experience.
Mather AVID students are...
College Ready – 100% of Mather AVID students are accepted to college
Successful – Mather AVID juniors score on average +80 points on the SAT
Confident – 95% of Mather AVID students take at least 1 AP class
Paid – Many Mather AVID students have scholarships for college
Connected – Mather AVID students make friends and most are involved in a sport or club
