Welcome!
My name is Brittany Barnwell and I am the dance teacher and ImpaKt Hip-Hop Dance Club Sponsor at Mather High School.
Educational Background:
- Northern Illinois University -- BFA in Dance Performance, Minor in Spanish
- Rutgers University -- EdM in Dance Education with K-12 Certification
About the Dance Program at Mather:
- There are 4 levels of dance offered at Mather: Dance I, Dance II, Dance III Honors, Dance IV Honors
- We have a partnership with The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. This partnership offers opportunities for students to attend live performances and participate in Master Classes hosted and taught by members of the Joffrey Ballet.
- Each year ALL dance students perform in the Winter Arts Showcase and the Spring Arts Showcase. The students work in class to collaboratively create a dance piece that they showcase at each of these performances.
- Additional performances include but are not limited to: Mather Winter Carnival, Mather Talent Show, Advanced Dance/Drama Showcase, and Ethnic Fest.
