Mr. Nicholas Vandermolen

Hello! My name is Nicholas Vandermolen, LSW and I am one of the school social workers here at Mather High School. I have nearly 10 years experience working with students in schools and this is my fourth year as a full-time social worker. In my time as a school social worker I have worked at over 10 different schools across the city of Chicago, both high school and elementary. Last year I was happy to finally find a place I could settle at and call home. That place is Mather High School and I am proud to be a member of this amazing team. Since I began at Mather High School I have served on the Behavioral Health Team (BHT/CARE Team) and the Culture and Climate team, helping to make this school a better place for our students. But mostly I work directly with students, a lot of them. I meet with some students individually, working therapeutically to improve students' social and emotional needs. Other students I work with in groups. I have facilitated groups on a number of topics pertinent to our student population: anger management (Think First), trauma (CBITS), grief, organization/goal setting, coping skills and social skills. I do this all with the help of 10-year school social work veteran of Mather High School, Ben De La Torre, and the rest of the Mather counseling department. 

 

I look forward to an amazing year and I am excited to serve the students here at Mather High School.
