Meet Ms. Guzman!

Hola,

Mi nombre es Johanna Guzman. Nací en Chicago y mis padres son de Michoacán, México. Comencé en la secundaria de Mather en el 2022. Soy la primera generación de mi familia en obtener mi bachillerato de la universidad de Northeastern en el 2010, en lenguas extranjeras con énfasis en español. En el 2020 obtuve mi maestría de la universidad de National-Louis, en educación secundaria con enfoque de español y también mi certificado en inglés como segunda lengua. Tengo experiencia enseñando español a nivel nativo y no nativo hablantes desde el año 2020. Siempre busco diferentes maneras de intensificar mi enseñanza en mis clases. Finalmente soy entrenadora del equipo de voleibol y fútbol de las jóvenes en Mather. También soy asistente para el equipo de luchadores.

My name is Johanna Guzman. I am a Chicago native with Mexican roots. My parents are from Michoacán, Mexico. I have been teaching at Mather since 2022. I am a first-generation student who earned my Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern Illinois University, in Spanish Foreign Language in 2010. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education from National-Louis University in 2020 along with my ESL endorsement. I have experience teaching all levels of Spanish for native and non-native speakers since 2020. I am always looking for ways to enhance my teaching in the classroom. Finally I am the head coach for the Girls JV Volleyball and Soccer teams, and I am the assistant coach for the boys and girls wrestling teams.
